Horray! Happy last day of January everyone. We’re over the worst and longest month of the year! I’ve had a rather mediocre January in all honesty. I’ve made my new years resolutions, I’ve gone back to the gym, healthy eating is back on the menu and now I’m ready for lighter nights, higher temperatures and to hang my puffer jacket back up in the wardrobe where it belongs.
I admitted in last weeks post I fall for the whole ‘New Year, New You!’ marketing ploy and I really have tried to create a fresh outlook on all aspects of my life. I’m trying new gym routines, I’m pulling off a new hairstyle and I’ve even started a creative writing course. Go me!
The next project to tackle on my list of things to do this year was to freshen up my bedroom. (The more I think about it, as I write this I’ve kicked ass this month haha!) I haven’t long had my bedroom decorated, you know the real DIY stuff like new wallpaper and the shabang, however, I felt it needed a touch-up. A spruce up. Nothing too drastic, just a freshen up.
Perhaps I felt I needed a change because I did spend most of my Christmas break in my bedroom, sloth-ing and watching movie re-runs for a whole two weeks and maybe I’ve gotten sick of the same four walls.
Your bedroom should be the room of zen in your house. The room you associate with relaxation, comfort and warmth. Like I said, I do spend a lot of time in my room and I felt it needed a personal touch to add that extra ‘chillax’ atmosphere.
The decor in my room is grey, silver and black. It’s quite light in my room considering, and it’s very modern. I have a futuristic stone looking wall, which is wallpapered and then the rest of the walls are painted. It’s simplistic furniture wise, I only have a bed, two side tables, a light, a television and a mirror as I do actually have a dressing room which is where my clutter goes!
There isn’t much to my room as a whole, therefore, I decided to try and make it feel cosier. I was recently introduced to the well-known brand JD Williams and couldn’t get over their fantastic home ranges available. It’s like an interior designers heaven! I was lucky enough to be sent a few items to help with my room transformation of which I couldn’t wait to share with you all! Little changes make big differences that’s all I can say.
I was sent four items, a new bedspread, a rug (which I’ve admittedly been using as a bed throw too!), two table lamps and they’ve made such an impact to the room and decor.
New bedding can create a whole new look, taking your room from graphic to girly, modern to classic, primary to pastel and more! I fell in love with this luxurious boulevard velvet duvet range since it matched my wallpaper! It’s added so much sophistication to my room, making me feel more ‘grown-up’ haha! Inside the set, there are 2 x Pillowcases and the duvet itself. The set is also available in single and king sizes. It’s 50% Cotton, 50% Polyester and machine washable. It comes in at £50 which isn’t too bad, considering how lovely it looks on! A downside is, I just wish the bed throw had been included in this price.
For a tranquil space, keeping bedroom lighting subdued is crucial! Nightstand lamps or wall sconces should be close enough for bedtime reading too. The Brooklyn chrome table lamp is an eye-catching design with a metallic finish. It’s added instant glamour to my bedroom to match the bedding! These come in at a bargain price of just £19, I think they’re worth that and more, to be honest. Personally, I think they look really expensive!
Adding a properly-sized area rug makes a room look bigger and more pulled together, even on top of carpeting. My carpet is a very natural colour so this non-slip faux fur shaggy rug adds so much more class to the room! I’ve also been using it as a throw over my bed which looks gorgeous and adds an extra accessory to the bed. This is another bargain, priced at only £19.00! It’s an incredible quality despite being faux.
Overall I’ve been really impressed with JD Williams and I’m so pleased I now know about their fabulous ranges. I had no idea they retailed so many different departments! There prices are unbeatable and on budget too. Make sure you check them out when you’re sprucing your room up.
