I had planned to write this post in the theme of ‘what I got for Christmas’ and then I realised it was February and Christmas feels like a lifetime ago. Where has January gone?! I mean, I’m not complaining since it felt like the longest month ever yet it seems to have completely flown over. If you know what I mean?! So, I thought I’d put together a haul of all of the Charlotte Tilbury goodies I received off Santa this year, in a non-Christmas themed post way. Grab a cuppa and enjoy!
I received a Charlotte Tilbury gift set one Christmas, many moons ago when the brand first started becoming popular. I absolutely adored the products but couldn’t bear to blow the cash on such luxury items since I was a young apprentice at the time, working for £2.50 an hour. Now, a strong independent women, with a slighter bigger salary, I feel it’s important to invest in myself and CT products are exactly that.
These days, if you haven’t heard of the Charlotte Tilbury brand you must have been living under a rock… surely?! Its become a must have to own a CT chrome gold lipstick. The brands iconic royal packaging is recognisable everywhere! What I love about the brand, is not just the packaging, eyeshadow shades or lipstick range, is the brand messaging. The Charlotte herself is very involved within the business, even the face of the business and she believes that every woman should feel beautiful, powerful and sexy and that her makeup is a great way to achieve this. Makeup gives you INSTANT CONFIDENCE. It’s about feeling as fabulous on the outside as you do on the inside. Their famous strapline is ‘give a woman the right makeup and she can conquer the world.’
For Christmas, I asked for a lipstick but instead, fortunately, received a The Rebel Eye Kit, the Magic Foundation, the Scent of a Dream fragrance, the Cheek to Chic powder blusher and Matte Revolution Pillow Talk lipstick. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the gift box on Christmas morning, how amazing? I’m one lucky lady, thanks Mam!
Since I’ve had a few weeks to give each product a good go, here are my honest thoughts on which items you need to add to your make up collection from Charlotte Tilbury!
The Rebel Eye Kit (£77.00)
First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate the shades with the palette? Not your standard smokey eye kit, this kit refuses to conform with the norm. I loved the dramatic and bold emerald tones and couldn’t wait to get creating a look with this handy palette.
This set includes:
Luxury Palette in The Rebel (Fill 5.2g) with a quartet of eyeshadows in shades of green and rose-gold for dramatic, unique makeup.
Rock ‘n’ Kohl Eyeliner in Bedroom Black (Fill 1.2g) is the ultimate eyeliner for a rock chick smokey eye in an intense black kohl formula.
Full Fat Lashes Mascara in Glossy Black (Fill 8ml) is a 5-in-1 mascara that will give you that false-lash effect in an award-winning formula.
I was initially worried about the shadows not being as pigmented on application but I can confirm they certainly are. Barely any product is needed to create a noticeable look and I was really impressed with the quality of the product. All of the shades blended in together perfectly and they were soft on the skin. I’d go as far as to say these palettes are the best I’ve ever used! This is a CharlotteTilbury.com exclusive kit by the way too.
The mascara is a fantastic product too, I only needed a few strokes of it to make a noticeable difference to the volume and thickness of my lashes. Lastly, the eyeliner is effortless to use and super long wearing.
Magic Foundation (£32.00)
I’m such a loyal customer to Estee Lauder and their double wear when it comes to my base but my heads been turned with this Magic Foundation for sure! I’ve mentioned a few times about how I rarely put trust in other brands in fear that I’ll spend a fortune on a luxury foundation and it just not fit the bill, however, I took a chance on this one and it’s worked wonders for me. So what makes this foundation so magic?! This collagen-boosting formula is said to reduce the appearance of acne in just 9 weeks, and age spots by 75%. The formula is supercharged with Vitamin C and genius Hyaluronic Filling Spheres which help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and ageing, leaving you with plumped up transformed skin! If you want a full coverage SPF15 foundation that will treat and transform your skin, especially if you struggle with frustrating issues such as spots this foundation is for you! I found it really light on the skin unlike double wear and it did stay long lasting plus full coverage all day. I had to use a primer with it as it can be a little oily but apart from that, it didn’t sink into my skin at all!
Cheek To Chic Powder Blusher (£30.00)
I’ve been desperate for a good blusher for a while and up until using this product, Nip & Fab has been my favourite! I received the Ecstasy shade which is a creamy, colour-rich texture in a gorgeous peach pink to enliven dull skin. I found the blush really light on the skin meaning not a lot of product was needed for a rosy effect. It has colour-rich pigment that buff and smoothes your skin for excellent blendability & flawless colour uniformity. I absolutely love it!
Matte Revolution Pillow Talk Lipstick (£24.00)
I remember when I first started this blog, in every beauty review I would rant about my hatred for matte lipsticks. Always complaining about how the dried my lips out, however, that was until I discovered the right matte lipstick for me. I’m a big fan of MAC lipsticks so I was interested to see how the CT range would differ. So what makes the matte revolution range so different to other brands? It has 3D glowing pigments create the illusion of lit-from-within lips that appear wider and fuller, plus a revolutionary, square, angled tip mimics the shape of a lip brush for precision application.
I adore the pillow talk shade, I’m really digging the subtle nudes at the minute! I found the lipstick quite dry on application, however, once fully applied it created such a gorgeous look. The stick itself seemed to effortlessly contour my lips. With it being matte, I put it to the test to see how long lasting it really was and I’m pleased to review that after 3 cups of tea it was still on!
Scent Of A Dream (£96.00)
I’d totally forgotten that Charlotte Tilbury had a fragrance range! It’s in such a fabulous bottle, it’s almost too pretty to use! I fell in love with the scent as soon as I had my first spray, it’s such a magical blend of smells! When I looked online and how the brand describes the fragrance, they explain it’s a ‘blend of JOY top notes including Lemon, Peach and Black Pepper, ‘FLEUROTIC’ heart notes of Jasmine, Frankincense, Tuberose and Violet, plus MAGIC MOLECULE base notes of Fire Tree, Iso E Super, Patchouli and Ambroxan. It attracts LOVE, LIGHT, POWER, POSITIVITY and SEX to the wearer!’
It’s certainly a sexy smell, which is quite strong, and very feminine. It reminds me of the tang of the clique fragrance Aromatics! When I use the perfume, I can smell is all day. I love how it clings to my clothes too. This might actually be my new favourite perfume.
I’m crazy about all of these products. I love the branding and packaging and how glamorous it is, I’m a big fan of the Charlotte Tilbury herself and it feels good to be a part of her makeup community. These products work well for me and I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the brand. Despite being pricey, they are very upmarket products of which have an undeniable high quality. Like I said, you’ve got to invest in yourself! Now, I’d love to explore her skincare range so stay tuned for when I get round to trying.
Have you tried any Charlotte Tilbury products before?
