The Perfect Girly Spa Day at Redworth Hall

Is there a better way to unwind than a spa day? I think not!

You may remember my visit to the idyllic Redworth Hall Hotel last year where me and boyfriend had a luxury night away at the stunning 17th century Jacobean Manor House situated in the blissful tranquillity of its own grounds in County Durham. I loved my visit that much I returned a few weeks ago with my Mam to show her what the fuss was all about!

We planned a little pre Mothers Day pamper! We booked ourselves in for an Aromaspa Full Body Massage for myself and the Facial Pilates for my Mam with lunch after in the new Lounge.

We arrived on a peaceful Sunday morning and headed to The Retreat. I mentioned last year that Redworth’s Retreat has undergone a magnificent refurbishment programme, designed to significantly enhance its facilities and promote an aura of relaxation.

The Newcastle-based Cairn Hotel Group unveiled the stunning new Retreat Leisure Club & Spa at Redworth Hall Hotel following a £2m investment, marking the completion of the first phase of a massive refurbishment and development programme at this local landmark hotel.

The leisure and spa facilities have been totally reconfigured and transformed to create a dedicated spa with six luxurious treatment rooms (including two interconnecting rooms), a tranquillity room and spa reception with a unique foliage backdrop, as well as a stunning new L’Oreal hair & nail salon.

The Retreat’s collection of indulgent treatment rooms are bathed in soft light with a warm, peaceful ambience and guests can select from a huge array of individual head to toe treatments and therapies, using only the finest Decléor products, as well as an indulgent selection of Spa packages and residential breaks.

To facilitate the creation of the new spa, the existing gym was relocated to the first floor and is now an expansive, fully air-conditioned space featuring an array of Technogym equipment and an Omnium multi-exercise rig. There is also a new purpose-built exercise studio featuring a state-of-the-art ‘Fitness on Demand’ virtual class system, offering over 2500 class options, alongside instructor-led classes. The Retreat facilities also include a 14-metre indoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room.

Taking centre stage is ‘The Lounge’ serving a delicious all-day menu that includes freshly prepared smoothies, salads, wraps and light bites. Light and airy, the open plan space is a clever mix of sleek contours, smooth finishes and designer touches with marble floors, a stunning curved bar counter, featuring rich blue panelling and brass detailing, while a cherry tree illuminated by fairy lights is another distinguishing feature.

After exploring The Retreat we headed to the pool area for a quick dip before our treatments. We then headed to Tranquillity room for some down time before our treatments. My Mam was up first for her Facial Pilates which really does sound interesting, I bet you’re thinking what on earth?! Well, it’s basically a 70-minute treatment that’s designed to visibly lift, remodel and re-densify the facial contours through specialist massage techniques.

And then it was time for my Aromaspa Full Body Massage which I was really looking forward to as I’ve been doing a lot of high-intensity exercises recently! The Aromaspa Massage relaxes, detoxifies, tones and stimulates all in one with its tension releasing treatment.

We both came out of our treatments feeling like new women! My Mams skin was absolutely glowing, the results were astonishing. For me, I was totally zen’d out. Every inch of my body was relaxed which was wonderful. We headed back into the Tranquillity room for more downtime and then got ready for lunch.

The Lounge really is stunning and very luxe. We got seated and browsed the menu, it’s hungry work relaxing, isn’t it? I really liked the menu as there something for everyone, from afternoon tea to light bites. I decided to go for the poached eggs on toasted sourdough with crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes and my Mam went for the Chicken Ceasar Wrap. The food as a whole was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. My poached eggs were cooked to utter perfection and my Mams wrap was so flavoursome.

After filling our stomachs it was sadly time to head home! We had such a lovely morning at The Retreat and we can’t wait to go back again. I would 100% recommend Redworth Hall for both a stay or a spa day, both are exceptional value for money especially the spa days which start at just £50 each where you receive food and treatment, as well as full use of spa facilities!

The Retreat also offers a range of indulgent spa experiences as gift vouchers, from individual treatments to luxurious spa days and overnight breaks.
