One event in the North East that has gone viral in 2018, is definitely Bongo’s Bingo. Over the past year, the event has gone from hosting a few events around the UK to taking over venues worldwide in the likes of Amsterdam, Dubai, Ibiza and Australia!
The North East has definitely taken a shine to it! It first hit toon at the end of last year and generated quite a bit of interest, out of curiosity more than anything, but social media and word of mouth has quickly seen its popularity soar in Newcastle, so much so that every time a new set of dates are announced, tickets are gone within minutes. The latest record so far is just two minutes for tickets for a special edition of the event featuring the Vengaboys.
For those of you who aren’t sure what Bongo Bingo is, it’s basically a chaotic and ironic version of bingo complete with rave intervals, dance-offs and rubbish prizes – although there are big cash jackpots to be won too. I wrote a post on the event last year when it came to Newcastle, which you can read here.
Not much happens in Sunderland and the city has pretty much gone into MELTDOWN since the news hit that Bongo Bingo was coming to the city for one night only on May 24th! And what’s even more exciting is the fact that Singer Kelis is set to perform at Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton.
I’ve luckily managed to grab myself some tickets so I can’t wait to sing along to ‘my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard!’ Kelis joins an ever-growing list of Bongo’s Bingo star guests which, in Newcastle, has so far included S Club, Vengaboys, Fuse ODG and Boyzlife, who were up here last month for the St Patrick’s Day’s special.
Although a night at Bongo’s Bingo is an experience that can only be lived to understand the madness, I’ll be writing up my review on here so stay tuned!
