Having a Ball: Throwing the Perfect Summer Birthday Party

Source

When it comes to birthday parties, we have to admit that summer is perhaps the best time to throw one. Winter can see people wanting to hibernate away in their warm homes, avoiding the cold and the rain outside. What’s more? People tend to be saving up for Christmas or recovering from New Year’s celebrations. But in the summer, people tend to be a little more lively and have fewer big events to worry about saving up for. So make the most of the good attitudes and throw the ultimate summer birthday party! Whether it’s your own or for a family member or friend, it’s time to get planning. Read on for everything you need to know and prepare for the perfect summer celebration!

A Venue

First things first, the venue. Where do you want to hold your event? We’d recommend making the most of the good weather and hosting things outdoors. This could be in your backyard or a rented piece of land. You will need to invest in a high-quality marquee. This will give your guests a space to sit in the shade out of the sun, or shelter in for bouts of light rain. Renting generally tends to be more affordable than buying and also means that you will have help setting it up, taking it down and won’t need to store it until the next occasion. Use a reliable company like lewis marquees, who will have a huge range of sizes, styles, and designs to choose from. Once you’ve decided on your marquee and where it’s going to be set up, you can start to move on to the fun party planning process.

Practicality

Have somewhere for your guests to sit and eat. This means setting up tables beneath the marquee with enough seats to accommodate your guests. You could also rent an outdoor heater or set up a small, supervised bonfire (outside of the marquee, of course) for guests to gather round if the temperature does happen to drop as evening approaches. Arrange food too. The simplest option would be a buffet. This means that guests can pick at bits and pieces throughout the day, keeping their hunger at bay. Remember to offer options for those with specific dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten free options.

Decoration

Marquees can be a little plain alone, so plan some ways to brighten things up and personalize the space to suit the birthday person. Make it attractive! Decorate tables with centerpieces. These could be flowers, edible arrangements and you might like to spread confetti or gems across the table cloth. Perhaps you could string fairy lights around the interior, ready to keep the party going through the night and giving a pretty, sweet aesthetic to the overall look. Balloons are always great too.

Music

Hire a DJ to keep the music playing throughout the night. They will bring their own equipment, meaning that you won’t have to invest in your own speakers and sound systems. Have space where guests can dance the night away with each other.
