5 New Year Resolutions I Hope I Stick Too

I was asked on Tuesday morning what resolutions I’d made for 2018 and I was totally caught off guard. That specific moment in time, I had to really think about what it is that I’d like to do this year and changes I’d like to make.

It took me a good five, ten minutes even to think of at least one thing I’d like to do differently and it was hard. Which isn’t a bad thing since it kind of reflects how much I enjoy my life and how my life’s heading. I’m genuinely really happy at this point in time, I’m happy with my relationship, I’m happy with my career, and satisfied in life right now.

The question did get me thinking, we can all work on ourselves and improves our lifestyles so I managed to think of five things I’d ideally like to improve, not change.

1. My Spending Habits – Save More

I haven’t got a spending problem, I just spend my money on absolute rubbish. Unessicary things, I don’t need. I’d like to remind myself every now and again that I do not have to buy myself a coffee every time I pass a Costa or buy that cute lunch bag that I don’t need in BnM. I’d really like to save money this year for my holiday to America so that I can pay it off quicker and save for spending money!

2. Try New Things

I’d say I’m quite an adventurous person anyway but this year I was to push myself out of my comfort zone. I started a creative writing course last week and went back to college as I’d love to improve my writing skills. I’d also like to try Yoga and channel my inner zen, therefore the next available class at my gym, I’m just gonna push myself and do it!

3. Be More Mindful Of Food

I’m really into my health and fitness, and generally do eat super healthy however I want to learn about food. I’m really interested in trying a refined sugar diet, however, I don’t think I could sacrifice sweets. I’m so shocked at the amount of refined sugar in normal food like beans, never mind sweets though! I’m a huge fan of Hello Fresh and have been using them for the past two weeks and it’s made me realise how much tastier things are when made fresh and from scratch. I’ve also been learning about bulking agents in supplements and will be sticking to natural based products from now, you’re barely even getting protein in some well-known products!

4. Organic Everything

This kind of taps into number 3 but organic is massively on my radar at the minute, especially beauty products. I recently reviewed some organic beauty products (find that review here) and whilst researching into organic beauty I couldn’t believe how many harmful products on our selves that we don’t even think could or would contain so many chemicals. What you put on your skin, eventually goes in it… mental!

5. Commit More Time To Real Life, NOT Social Media

“Time is precious, use it wisely.” Is a quote that’s struck me. I spend and invest a hell of a lot of time on the internet and social media. I know it’s not always wasted as it’s my job and I do blog as a hobby, however, I really need to be conscious of spending more time in the real world, not the superficial world of Instagram. I really want to commit to giving my phone up for a few hours after work to concentrate on relaxing and switching off, I think I’ll really benefit from it and be an overall more happy person. It’s so easy to be sucked into it all to fill spare time. Family and spending time with people is way more important.

I really hope I stick to this! Wish me luck. What are your resolutions?

    I need to spend less too, I always used to buy crap I didn’t need but now I take a step back and really think about whether I need it.

    Great resolutions, good luck with all of your goals! I’ve been following an ‘if it fits your macros’ diet for the past few weeks & it’s definitely helped me to be more mindful about what I’m putting in my mouth. Some of the sugar hidden in regular food is shocking xx

    These are great resolutions and I always finding writing them down makes me stick to them more! The eating organic one is also one of mine, I think it’s so important and something that isn’t really recognised

    They sound like some resolution is that I need to enforce. Especially trying something new. Iโ€™m not too bad for social media at the moment, I could probably get off my phone more.

    These are great things to improve on Alice – no matter what they will all benefit you in amazing ways!     Youโ€™ve outlined some amazing goals.
