I’ve always known just how vital supplements are when it comes to working out and recovery but it’s only as of recent that I’ve started taking them seriously and seeing the benefits. I discovered the MyProtein Weight loss Bundle a few months ago where I gave my honest opinion here, and it’s really worked for me. I’ve continued to use supplements since then and have seen a huge difference in my energy levels, rate of which I’m losing weight and toning, skin, and appetite. I feel amazing! I’ve started drinking BCAA now too as I’ve heard great things about it. If you’re not familiar with BCAA it’s basically what it is basically it’s Branch Chain Amino Acids and it’s massively popular within the health and fitness industry. It can be taken as a standalone powder, or tablet, whilst they are also a key ingredient in many pre-workouts formulas. BCAAs are said to be perfect for people looking to put on mass, but more so people who are looking to cut down and shred some body fat whilst maintaining as much muscle as possible.
I’ll be totally honest about BCAA, the one I’m using, is a right faff on to make and it tastes rank. It’s a chore to drink and doesn’t sit well with my taste buds even though I have Raspberry Lemonade flavour too. Just as an FYI it definitely doesn’t taste like Raspberry Lemonade either. So, when the team at Rejuvenation got in touch, informing me of their new drink perfect for after a workout and asking if I wanted to give it a try I was over the moon.
The made up drinks contains L-Glutamine, which can minimize breakdown of muscle and improve protein metabolism. Glutamine also metabolises in the body’s white blood cells, fuelling the immune system and protecting from illness. Health in a bottle, right?! Alongside the benefits that amino acids provide, the drink is sweetened with Stevia, the leaf extract and is low in sugar and contains just 62 calories per bottle. Despite being a health drink, the makers claim it tastes fantastic, receiving a Great Taste Award from the Fine Food Guild in 2016. It’s also made using crisp Staffordshire spring water and uses natural ingredients. Bottled for convenience, it provides functional hydration on-the-go, with each 500ml bottle containing five grams of L-Glutamine, the conditionally essential amino acid, needed by your body in large amounts for the immune system, post exercise recovery and cognitive health. The drink has just two grams of natural sugar per 100ml and contains 62 calories per bottle.
Founder, Kris Ingham explained: “The idea came to me around ten years ago. I was looking at my diet to understand how I could improve my fitness and diet. After being introduced to amino acids by a number of Nutritionists and Dieticians, I was surprised that amino acids were not as accessible as vitamins. Due to the innovative nature of Rejuvenation Water, we went through intense research and development to engineer the product. We have been absolutely delighted by the initial reaction, to our innovative concept, from customers and trade alike.”
So did I like it? Taste test alert!
This was my favourite one out of the bunch. It really just tasted like orange juice, I was worried the it might just taste like sugar water but I was wrong. It was refreshing and quenched my thirst immediately. A few hours after drinking it, I still felt full of beans after my work out.
Ginger and Lime
Two very different tastes that go so well together! I associate these flavours with cocktails and this was definitely a healthy cocktail. Again, this was very refreshing and it’s nice to have something different than water and a protein shake post work out.
Apple and Mint
Probably my least favourite but still drinkable. I think it’s because I’m not a huge fan of mint.
I loved Rejuvenation and I think they’re perfect for on the go people like me who haven’t got time to make up their own BCAA. I’ll definitely be getting some more soon.
