Summer is here; there’s no denying that – the weather has certainly started to heat up, which is why I thought it was time to share a little self-care post with you.
Apparently, summer is the time when a lot of us fail to think about self-care because we’re too busy lapping up the sun, but we shouldn’t do – throughout the year, it’s important to make self-care a priority. Without further ado, below are a few summer self-care tips to take note of.
Don’t spend too long in the sun
Yes, sunbathing is a great way to spend your spare time in the summer but that doesn’t mean being in the sun all day. There is nothing worse than getting sunburnt or developing sunstroke because you’ve been out in the sun for too long. So aim to monitor the time that you spend outside when it’s really hot, and aim to spend no more than a few hours outdoors, and whatever you do, don’t forget the sunscreen. (Don’t just apply it once, reapply your sunscreen of choice throughout the day.)
Practice yoga or pilates every day
Want to keep your cool this summer? Well then, it’s time to start practicing yoga or pilates. These two meditation-based forms of exercise offer a great release from stress, as well as helping you to tone up. If you want to ensure that you don’t spend your summer stressed out, aim to practice yoga or pilates at least once a day – you will feel better for it.
Learn to love your beach body
There’s a lot of drama surrounding the perfect beach body, isn’t there? When it comes to how you look on the beach, all that matters is that you are happy with your appearance, forget what anyone else thinks. Obviously, if you feel like you aren’t happy with your figure, then it’s perfectly fine to change how you’re eating and put more time in at the gym or seek help from somewhere like www.sculptureclinic.com.au. However, what it’s important to understand is that there is no such thing as the perfect beach body. What you can do to boost your beach body confidence is apply fake tan – this contours your body, and find swimwear that fits your body perfectly.
Eat well & drink plenty of water
When you are spending most of your time on the beach, it’s tempting not to eat healthily, because it’s easier to grab something quick. But this isn’t a good idea, especially if you are keen to keep yourself fit and healthy. Aim to eat plenty of lean meat, fish, beans and pulses, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as making sure to drink plenty of water. To make water a little more enjoyable to drink, adding lemon and cucumber to it is a good idea. For more ideas for making water taste a little nicer, visit www.everydayhealth.com.
