My favourite food time of the day… Breakfast.
We are constantly told in the media and by our parents that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I couldn’t agree more! Breakfast provides us with energy and key nutrients that lead to increased concentration throughout our day, plus proven key for maintaining weight.
I could talk about food all day, I’m one of those people that loves food like really loves it. Once I’ve finished eating something I’m already thinking about what I’m going to eat next, I look forward to food let’s just say that. I eat when I’m happy, I eat when I’m sad, basically food is life. I’d hate to be one of those people who just eat to survive and get no pleasure out of food!
I like to plan and look forward to food, epically during the week when I’m using food to refuel and satisfy my carb/sweet cravings off doing so much exercise. I always start my day off with a hearty breakie. The key to do this is experimentation! I think some people have a really dim view on breakfast because you know, you’re usually in a rush because of work and you need something quick but when I started getting into fitness and healthy eating I was shocked at how many other options were out there other than cereal, toast and that were quick and easy.
I decided to do some research on this topic and delved into what nutritionist have to say about breakfast and I read over on Shake Up Your Wake Up that breakfast should be eaten within 2 hours of getting up and it should provide calories in a range of 20-35% of your guideline daily allowance. They also provide recipes for all you stuck for breakfast ideas here, great resource.
If anyone follows me on Instagram, you’ll see I’ve been trying new things and new places in the North East for breakfast including:
- MyProtein gold syrup Pancakes
I just bought a sample bag from MyProtein to see what they’d taste like since usually with any protein based product you get a very dry tasting base however how I was wrong. These are amazing! I’ve just been adding a little milk, but going to try coconut milk and almond milk to see if it has the same consistency. I’ve bought a special mini frying pan too so they are perfect! Used coconut oil to cook with too! Check it out.
- Wholemeal bread with mushed avocado and poached egg (when I do it right)
Simple but soooo tasty, I’m loving avocado at the minute.
- Oats with Almond milk, sprinkled with a little almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and berrys.
- And this morning I had time to visit this little gem in Jesmond, Clean & Press.
I had a Bulletproof Coffee, Apple Lemon and Ginger cold pressed juice with a Acia Berry breakfast pot and a bacon & egg with mush avocado multigrain wrap. One word, amazing. If your from NE or in there area you should take a visit!
Anyone got any other breakfast recipes for me to try?
