When you first start your fitness journey, losing weight is usually your first goal. So, whether you’re trying to lose weight or tone up, you should try to add swimming to your exercise routine if possible. It’s particularly good for toning muscles because you get a lot of resistance from the water, and you tone your entire body, rather than having to learn different weight exercises for different areas. It’s particularly good for toning your arms and back, but you will see results all over if you are swimming regularly. It’s also a very low impact sport which makes it ideal for exercising after an injury or for people that are just getting into fitness and want to start out slow.

It doesn’t feel like a workout because you’ll be having a great time, so it’s easy to stay motivated. However, you will see some great results after just a few weeks because it’s an intense cardio workout which engages a lot of different muscle groups. There are plenty of adult dance classes that you can join and any style of dance from ballet to street dance will be beneficial. Dancing is a great activity to do with friends so if you have a workout buddy, you should suggest it.

But a lot of people don’t realize that it’s also great for toning muscles. When you start getting into some of the more advanced poses, you’re holding up your body weight and using muscles in a way that you wouldn’t normally, which really helps to tone them up.
