Let’s talk about pizza. Who doesn’t love pizza? I certainly do. I’d go as far as to say pizza is up there with one of my favourite foods. Just gimme’ all of the pizza!
Last week I was kindly invited down to PizzaStorm, possibly the best pizza joint in toon. PizzaStorm, in my eyes, is the pizza equivalent to McDonald’s, expect it’s a hell of a lot fresher and all-around more delicious, but you get the concept, it’s insanely good fast food at a reasonable price.
If you’re an avid reader of this blog, you’ll have heard the name before as I’ve reviewed this place before (incase you missed it, you can read those reviews here and here). On both previous occasions that I’ve been, I’ve unfortunately been on a diet and gone for the healthier options like a salad, as they do have a selection of amazing salads too. This time, the diet was off and it was time to lose my inhibitions to their menu.
My Mam came with me after work around half 6ish for a girly date and the place was buzzing. Situated in Grey’s Quarter within intu Eldon Square there’s always a great atmosphere around the centre. We were warmly welcomed into the New York dinner style restaurant, meeting the staff who are so lovely and extra helpful. They explained to us what’s new and what’s worth trying on the menu!
After much deliberation, we went for one of the brand new signature pizza’s, the Decadence (£6.55)! The Decadence is loaded with tomato sauce, white sauce, mozzarella, regato, tomatoes, baby spinach, red onion, spicy beef, salami and rocket… yummy! We also went for Mac n Cheese (£3.95), Loaded Wedges (£2.75) as sides. Lastly, we were treated to two brand new milkshakes that aren’t even on the menu as of yet, the Oreo and Salted Carmel milkshake. As much as I love pizza, I’m not very adventurous. I usually just stick to what I know I like so choosing the Decadence was a big risk for me.
We choose a seat and got settled as PizzaStorm are now trailing table service. Normally you just walk with your pizza as it’s being made and then pick it up at the end after the oven! We didn’t wait long for our food, maybe, 15 minutes maximum which was ideal as I was rather peckish.
The Decadence certainly didn’t disappoint, it was amazingly tasty. I was worried there’d be too much to the pizza with all those fillings however each ingredient complimented each other and it wasn’t too spicy on the palette either. What I love about PizzaStorm is that the base and crust is quite thin so it doesn’t overly fill you up. As a first timer, trying Mac n Cheese I wasn’t sure what to expect, all I can say is that I’ve been MISSING out! This Mac n Cheese was divine, anyone visiting PizzaStorm, this side dish is a must. Now let’s talk about the loaded wedges, my mouth has officially begun to start watering as I think about them now! The wedges were cooked to perfection and saturated in cheese and crispy bacon, one word… heavenly. The shakes we got to exclusively try were scrumptious, my favourite was the Oreo one! I’m not usually a fan of milkshakes as I’m not a fan of milk, however, the consistency was just right, thick and creamy.
After totally stuffing our face, I had a food baby develop! We had such a fantastic evening at PizzaStorm and I’d recommend anyone fancying a quick bite to eat at an affordable price popping in. The food was of an outstanding quality and so fresh, the fact you get to see your pizza being handmade is great. 10/10!
