The busiest period of the year is upon us, Christmas. So, what better place to unwind than Spa at Ramside? I love the Ramside, it’s a place I hold fond memories with my family as we regularly visit the Rib Room for Sunday lunch and over Christmas. That’s the beauty of Ramside Hall it’s for everyone, families, couples, friends. Every occasion, every special moment, can be held at Ramside. If you’re not familiar with Ramside Hall, it’s one of the North East’s most luxurious four-star hotels. It’s quite rightly, been awarded the only Silver AA Rated in County Durham recently since it offers the picture-perfect blend of traditional features, lavish accommodation and first-class service. A few weeks ago, my self and the other half headed for an evening of zen at Spa at Ramside.
Fortunately I’ve visited the spa before, last year when I went along with a group of other North East Bloggers (you can find that review here), however Jorden, my partner hadn’t been before. I had a lovely time last time around, so I was excited to see if anything had changed and what it would be like to experience the Twilight evening again! Ramside boasts that they are ‘the ultimate luxury spa in Durham’ and I can’t help but agree. With a sophisticated thermal suite, five pools including one of the UK’s largest hydrotherapy pools and an outdoor infinity pool, as well as a state-of-the-art gym, it would be hard for any of there competitors to beat their facilities. Spa at Ramside is also home to a team of highly skilled specialists who offer a wide range of therapeutic beauty and treatment rituals.
We were welcomed into the warmth of the spa on a blustery, wintery, Thursday evening by staff and shown to the Fusion Restaurant within Spa at Ramside since a two-course meal is included in the Twilight experience offer. The Fusion Restaurant is conveniently located in the spa so once you’re feeling completely relaxed you can enjoy five-star cuisine and a glass or two of wine. The food available is from traditional recipes from South East Asia, tantalising blends and locally sourced produce bring you dishes that are sensational and fresh. We headed to Fusion before we went into the spa as we were starving after both being at work all day.
We were seated nestled away from the hustle and bustle overlooking the spa itself, choosing from the Evening Menu. The Evening Menu has a huge selection of dishes to suit everyone’s taste buds, including Sushi, Dim Sum Baskets, Wok, along with plenty of Meat and fish dishes. We were totally spoilt for choice. I’ve mentioned on here before that my other half is an extremely picky eater but he had no issues finding something he liked! For starter, I went for the Platter of Sushi and Jorden went for the Chicken Wings. The sushi was scrumptious, there was Salmon, Tuna, Smoked Eel and Prawn sushi completed with Asian sauces and dressing. Portion wise, it was perfect for a starter. The Chicken Wings were faultless, they weren’t greasy and the chicken was moist and very succulent with the outside batter. For mains, I choose the Chicken Teriyaki Don and Jorden choose they Traditional Thai Green Curry with Chicken. My Teriyaki chicken was divine, it was stir-fried with peppers, broccoli, spring onion and mushroom, topped with rich teriyaki coriander and chill dressing with steamed rice. The different flavours combined together was absolutely gorgeous! Jorden’s Thai Green Curry was super yummy, usually, the curry is served with peppers, aubergines, mushrooms and coriander but like I said, picky eater, so he just got the curry sauce with chicken. The taste was full of fragrance but no over overpowering and very rich, the perfect blend of spices. Our mains were a decent portion size too, they weren’t too big or too small meaning I didn’t leave feeling bloated or too full.
After we’d devoured our food, it was time to head to the spa and zone out! The changing rooms are really stunning, very plush and modern. I’m big on good changing rooms and it really adds to my experience when a spa has a good changing room! It’s kitted out with all ESPA products too. I met Jorden poolside, the pool at Ramside is a full-size 25-metre swimming pool completed with a bubble pool. Obviously, we went in the bubble pool first! After a quick dip we headed to the outdoor vitality pool in the Herb Garden, it’s spectacular at night complete with mood lighting. The outdoor pool also has massage jets and swan necks which essentially massage your neck, very nice. We then explored the Thermal Suites, my favourite two were the Himalayan Salt Steam room and the Herbal Infused Sauna. By this point, I was felt like I was walking on air. In my last post on here, I wrote about how stressed I’ve been feeling recently and this little spa break has totally lifted a weight off my shoulders and relieved my tension. After a little more exploring and a dip in the pool, it was time to head home!
We felt amazing after our visit to Spa at Ramside, we didn’t want to leave! There are some great offers on at the minute for Spa Breaks and Spa Days. If you’re after a Twilight like us they have two offers running currently which are the Festive Twilight for Two and the Christmas Twilight. Both include a two-course dinner, full use of spa facilities and a 30-minute treatment. Price range from £89-110, which is excellent value for money considering the quality of facilities. If you fancy a spa break, I’d definitely recommend Spa at Ramside.
