Foodie Review | Sweet Tooth Delivery Sunderland

How’s everyone’s week going? It may be only hump day but I’m having a super busy week, roll on the weekend! This one’s for all of my local foodie readers, guess where I went last night? SWEET TOOTH DELIVERY!

Sweet Tooth Delivery formally known as The Olive Café in Sunderland started by delivering desserts to UNI students back in the day and it was then that they discovered a gap in the dessert market! Today it has two branches across Durham, one in Middlesborough and one in Sunderland.

So I was invited to their Sunderland emporium VIP launch! I was kindly allowed to bring a plus one so I took my boyfriend along, we were greeted with a smile by the staff even though the place was heaving when we arrived at around 6ish (already a hit ha). We were instructed to choose any dessert and drink from the menu which we could find on the tables and then to go order at the counter, so we followed the layout of the shop and found a cosy booth. There are basically two rooms to the emporium, one with the counter and tables then the back is just full of tables/booths. I loved the layout of the place, plus the interior – it almost has a 60’s diner feel to it with bold blue and red leather seats with a slight modern twist.

The menu is jam packed full of sweet treats, it starts with waffles through to sundaes, cakes, cookie doughs, brownies then onto the shakes and beverages. There was just so much selection I must have debated on what to get for a good 15 minutes. After much deliberation I went for the chocolate cookie dough brownie batter with a watermelon frozen lemonade and my boyfriend went for the ‘Truffella’ waffle with a mint aero shake, we made a deal that we would half each dessert so we could both try each one. I did have my eye on a chocolate mud pie cake but stuck to my favourite good old cookie dough.

And boy was I glad I did, one word… amaze. It was possibly the best dessert I’ve ever tasted, so rich and drenched in chocolate sauce, topped with a mountain of vanilla ice cream which worked especially well with the fact the base of the cookie dough was warm. My boyfriend’s waffle was super tasty and definitely wasn’t dry like I find with most waffles, it was saturated in Nutella and topped with chocolate ice cream… delicious.

Price wise, this is place is not bad at all well worth it – plus they do fab deals. Great quality, great portion sizes and great selection. And best of all they deliver…I’m so happy, going to come in handy for those hungover Sundays!! Overall, the place has great atmosphere, the staff couldn’t be any more friendly and helpful. Thinking of taking my nieces too as I think they’d love it, really bright and vibrant place aka child friendly. I’ll definitely be returning very soon! Thanks to Flora at their end for inviting me!
