The Underwear Set Every Girl Needs

I never really understood what the big deal was surrounding fancy underwear until I had my breast enlargement. It was a monumental moment in my life when I could no longer buy a £3 bra and knicker set from Primark anymore since they don’t cater for women of my size in that range.

At first, I felt gutted at the prospect of paying over £10 for a bra when I first realised bra shopping with fake breasts wasn’t going to plain sailing after all. I eventually discovered what was out there for me and my size. The patterns, the bra shapes, the colours, the straps, the hooks… oh the excitement when I’d find a website or a shop who catered for my breastiness needs!

One website who’s continued to be my go-to website for underwear is Knicker Locker. I’ve discussed the brand before on here when I wrote about why it’s so important to wear the right bra size, you can read that post here if you missed out. For those of you who’ve never heard of the brand, they’re basically an underwear and Swimwear shop for men and women where we help you find the perfect size and fit. Gemma Illes and Nicholas Illes founded Knicker Locker in January 2015, with a mission to help everyone find their perfect set of underwear and swimwear. They’ve certainly helped me find my size and booby comfort.

I was lucky enough to be sent a few pieces from a new range they’ve recently started to stock from the brand Ten Cate. I’ve heard a lot about Ten Cate and it’s all been great things so I was really excited to see what the fuss was about!

Ten Cate has been established for over 64 years now. It was the young entrepreneur named Loets Ten Cate who created the brand many moons ago when he had two large machines placed in a meadow, near the village of Geesteren. Loets bought the chain knitting machines from America to overwhelm the Dutch ladies with seamless tights. It wasn’t long after that a large factory was built around the machines and become an important textile site. The company and the village of Geesteren became mutually connected and they were able to have great success with the Ten Cate brand, both nationally and internationally.

Ten Cate has remained unchanged since then. Innovation, quality and team spirit are still the foundation of the company. They design and create comfortable everyday basics including vests, briefs, shapewear and seamless solutions for the stylish and confident man and woman.

The Ten Cate underwear includes three collections which are basic, fine and secrets. Their lingerie, vests and shapewear fit seamlessly with the skin and are silky soft. Their shapewear collection offers seamless shapes with a special fabric blend, giving an enhanced
silhouette and superior comfort.

I received the Secrets strappy set in red with the matching lace back hipster briefs plus another Secrets strappy vest in powder with the matching briefs. From first impressions, they looked gorgeous and felt so soft on the skin. The quality of the material was easily identified and the colours were very bold, especially the red.

The real test was the wear test. I decided to use the powder underwear under an evening dress, which was quite fitted. I loved the powder colour as although the colour nude is meant to go with everything I sometimes find too dark when I’m wearing light clothing. I was worried even though the knickers are seamless that you still might be able to spot them but I was wrong totally invisible, they were almost like a second skin! I’m normally really self-conscious when it comes to tight, figure-hugging dresses however the shapewear underneath made me feel so confident. The set was so comfortable to wear too unlike normal shapewear. I was overall very impressed with the quality and comfort.

The red set was equally as comfortable. I loved the detailing of the lace on the red hipster briefs, very luxurious. I often feel like my muffin top hangs over hipster knickers (lovely thought I know!) but these fit perfectly. Same with the vest too, I was worried these vests might feel too tight around my breasts but again I was wrong as there is some stretch to the material.

Ten Cate manages to pull off style and comfort, something very rare when it comes to underwear and lingerie I must say. I absolutely loved the pieces I received and I can’t wait to get my hands on some more! I’m over the moon Knicker Locker now retail them. If you’re after something sexy that doesn’t comprise your confidence, Ten Cate is the answer! Make sure you check out their range.

I haven’t brought myself a nice matching set since I became a mum. Maybe I should treat myself. I don’t have a massive chest (D-DD) but I do find that find a supportive bra is really hard. I May have to try this website xx
