Summer at Silverlink

Stepping off the plane last week wasn’t my usual grim experience. There was no gust of cold wind smacking me in the face. It was 27 degrees and the sun was still beating down on me. It felt hotter than it did in Spain!

If you follow me on social media, you’ll have noticed I’ve been to sunny Spain. It was a special family holiday as me and my other half got engaged! I’m planning a full in-depth post about the proposal to fill you lot in, so stay tuned. Can’t wait to start the wedding planning journey!

Anyway, back to the weather! I’d planned a night out with my friends to celebrate the engagement news and realised I had NOTHING to wear. Obviously, when I say NOTHING, I’m not being dramatic… at all. The weather was so clammy and all my suitable, cool, and summery outfits needed to be washed as I’d already worn them all on holiday! Fortunately, I’d been invited to Silverlink Shopping Park for some retail therapy and to check out this summer must-haves!

Silverlink Shopping Park is quite the hotspot in the North East, and if you can remember, last year I visited the park as A/W was commencing here! Being one of the largest retail parks in the region it’s home to stores such as New Look, M&S, River Island and many more. It’s heaven for a fashionista like me.

Summer 2019 has been very lively in terms of trends, what with the return of the 1960’s hippy tie-dye prints and 1950’s polka dots plus safari and animal prints. I think you all know by now how much I adore animal prints, especially leopard print so I’m pleased the trend has moved with seasons!

I headed straight to Outfit! Outfit is an out-of-town fashion destination store that’s been designed with us shoppers in mind. The company understands that sometimes you want to shop the high street in one effortless hit so they’ve created a store where you can find the best menswear, womenswear, shoes and accessories all under one roof. They stock the big fashion players like Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topman, Topshop and Wallis.

I didn’t know where to look first! The huge selection and oh, the sales! Outfit currently have a huge summer sale going on where prices have been slashed, especially on denim.

I was particularly impressed with Dorothy Perkins! A brand that never usually excites me but is renowned for its reliability. They had some gorgeous pieces in, including these snakeskin print trousers! They’re a classic example of how you could wear an outfit from day to evening. In the sale, I managed to find some white linen shorts which were reduced from £16 to £12.

I then browsed around to Warehouse, again another brand that doesn’t usually catch my eye but they’ve got some gorgeous ranges this season especially beachwear! Just look at this beach bag, it’s such a must-have.

I was most looking forward to seeing what Miss Selfridges had to offer to be honest I love the brand, they’ve been serving banging outfits me since my year 8 disco back in 2009! They’ve also got a great sale on where I managed to bag a pair of brown suede heels for just £23.20, which were £29.00.

Last but by no means least, I came to Topshop! Another classic high street brand that I’ve loved since being a teen. Their designers have definitely stuck with a distinct safari theme this summer, lots of brown tones, lots of greens and lots of animal prints. I fell in love with a light brown crocodile skin inspired bag which I just had to have, it’s a beautiful quality and for just £25.

I could have gone on my ends at Silverlink but managed to find the perfect items to match a top I already had at home for my night out! Huge thank you to Silverlink for inviting me down, I can’t wait to go back for my AW wardrobe.
