House of Fraser SS17 Press Day

Last week was rather a busy week for the blog and work, I was at two events in Newcastle and one in London which was the House of Fraser SS17 Press Day. I went to the AW16 press day earlier in the year which showcased all of this seasons trends and they were spot on with the ‘in things’ so when I got the chance to see their SS17 predictions I was super excited, it’s handy being a head of everyone else when it comes to fashion and especially in summer.

My train left Newcastle at 8am, I’d been up early so when I was settled on the train with my Ginger Bread Costa Latte I finally relaxed. The journey was a breeze, luckily it’d been a express train so only had three stops and within a blink of an eye I was in the big city. The event was held at One Marylebone, which was a former church designed by Sir John Soane. The building is just stunning, full of character, lots of details, smart spaces and is just situated off Great Portland Street. The team at House of Fraser transformed the venue in to a spring summer dream, ground floor was Homeware and first floor was Womenswear, Menswear and a little bit of Beauty.

When I first walked into the Home showcasing area the essence of sweet scented candles hit me first then what I saw can only be described as a Pinterest Interior Dream in front of me. There were stations flowing around the room from collections by well known brands like Grey & Willow, Biba to name a few. There were bedroom stations, living areas and kitchen areas, it was so inspiring. I’ve never been that much of an interior enthusiast probably because I don’t own my house or anything but now feel myself setting up a Pinterest interior board and adding to it every now and again. Check out some of the amazing creations.

After standing in awe at the Homeware I swiftly moved upstairs to Womenswear and Menswear where I eye’d up some the key trends which will be making an appearance next Summer. One thing I noticed was that the Bomber jacket trend is really still going to be current through to Summer I know the past two seasons they’ve been hitty missy but summer is going to the summer of the bombers that’s for sure, for both men and women. Designers like Biba have really developed the designed making it current and revamped. Patterns are most definitely in too, especially menswear. Most of you may refer to patterns shirts as ‘Dad Shirts’ or ‘Alfie Moon Shirts’ (the geezer from Eastenders, married to Kat) but Summer is set to bring back the style making them more fashionable than ever. Colour wise, we’re back to the baby blues, the soft pale pinks, as well as block colours making bold statements complimenting the patterns.

One thing I loved about the Womenswear showcasing was the separate collection for active-wear, I think more fashion brands are realizing that we as a population are becoming more health conscious and that there is a HUGE gap in the market for gym clothing and us gym freaks NEED some nice active-wear! House of Fraser are working closely with brands like Ted Baker, Calvin Klein and many more to sprouse up our gym draw.

I then had a wonder to Beauty where they had a make up artist from YSL presenting the new long lasting YSL lipsticks and lip glosses, I was advised a radiant pink would brighten up face adding colour to my tan in the Summer apparently. And then I got the chance to speak to the hair professionals at Show Beauty whom are a new brand collaborating with House of Fraser retailing only the best luxury hair care products, I mean I was sold by the branding never mind the products.

I had a great time viewing the new SS17 collections at House of Fraser, have you been to any press days this year?
