I’m a busy bee these next few weeks, I’m here, there and everywhere! March, April and May are definitely my favourite months of the year. We start to see the sun a little bit more, the temperature rises ever so slightly, the mornings get brighter and the nights get lighter!
They’re also my favourite months as I usually squeeze a few mini-breaks in. I’ve already been to Amsterdam, I’m off to Manchester this weekend and at the end of April, I’m off to Dublin!
I’m super excited about heading to Dublin as I’ve never been before and it’s always been on my travel bucket list. I’m going with my other half as it’s my birthday present, I’m a lucky gal!
I’ve decided to be super organised and create a checklist now, rather than a few days before like I usually do and end up going into pre-holiday meltdown! There’s no bigger regret than leaving your packing until the day before and having a bitch fit is there?!
Packing for a mini break can be difficult and it can be even more challenging if you’re going on a staycation in the UK as the weather can very temperamental! You can be prepared for the cold and then randomly the sun will be scorching in the UK, it’s all a bit bizarre.
Since it’s April when I go to Dublin I’m hoping for a bit of sun and a temperature over 5 degrees, pray for Alice! Today’s post is all about the must-have essentials for a mini break!
1. The Cross Over Bag
If you’re like me and go to all the major tourist attractions when you’re on a breakaway, plus you enjoy walking everywhere, it’s essentials you have a practical bag for 2 reasons. 1, so you’re not carrying anything and it’s lightweight and 2, to be safe! Having your bag as close to you as possible warns off any pickpockets away. I am loving this Ralph Lauren number I got for Christmas, it’s perfect for travelling.
2. A Book
Going on a break is one of the only sacred times I get to be a bookworm because I actually have time! I love nothing more than getting stuck into a new book whilst I’m travelling. Think of it like this, what if you’re delayed and you’re bored? A book can be very handy! I’ve been reading this thriller for the past few weeks and I can not put it down, I’d definitely recommend.
3. A Pair of Sliders
Because what if it’s a sunny day and you only have a pair of boots?! I like to be compact when I’m packing and will only include the necessities but these sliders are very compact. I spotted these in Matalan’s Holiday Shop recently for JUST £10, what a bargain. I’m really impressed with their Spring Summer ranges this year, I’ve always been a fan but they’re killing it in 2018! These sliders are SO comfortable, ever so sassy AND practical! Praying I can show of my pedicure in Dublin with these babies!
4. A Cheap Lippie
Like I said in number 5, I only pact the necessities and yeah lipstick is essential but I try to only take a few rather than my full collection. On previous mini breaks, I’ve taken my best lipsticks and either lost them or left them in the hotel and been left heartbroken so now I just take budget lipsticks. I’ve been trying this Kylie Jenner Lip Kit dupe from Primark for the last few weeks and I’m seriously impressed. The product is so long lasting and the colour is so vibrant. This duo is the perfect handbag size too, perfect travel sizes!
5. A Good Suitcase
Two-wheeled suitcases are so last year! My life has been changed by this IT Luggage 4 wheel suitcase! It is huge, meaning I can fit all my clothes in there and my other half can get all his in there too, resulting in us saving money on the dreaded luggage tax. Perfect! It’s extremely light-weight AND has a hard shell meaning all of your clothing is protected! I picked this up at Matalan where they have the best deals on suitcases and travel luggage! Make sure you check them out.
I can’t wait to jet off to Dublin now, T minus 3 weeks! Are you heading off on a staycation soon?
