Curvy Kate | The Bra Review

I first came across Curvy Kate while I was browsing Twitter one day, another blogger had mentioned them in a tweet so I fell upon their Twitter and I was intrigued as they preached about catering for plus size women and women with big boobies! The brand and bras have been created for the everyday curvious woman, they say that Curvy Kate “is every one of us – she’s the girl next door, your sassy mate, your body-loving mum and your confident work colleague. Curvy Kate isn’t made for just one person, it’s a curve celebrating, self-worshipping state of mind and it’s in every one of us curvy ladies” I loved the ethos. Women of all shapes, sizes and curves try out their bras before they go on sale so that only the snuggest, perkiest, most comfortable designs make it into their ranges. Curvy Kate bras start from small back sizes, right up to plus sizes, including 40 to 44 backs and a range of D to K cups. If you’ve been keeping up to date with my posts you’ll have read about my recent breast enlargement (found here for those who’ve missed) and I’m now the owner of 32FF breasts! Believe it or not I’m really struggling to find good quality, supportive bras that are affordable so I gor in touch with Chantelle at Curvey Kate who has been described by the press as the ‘Boob Whisper’  to ask a few questions about finding a good fitting bra and she kindly gifted me two stunning lingerie sets.

We chatted about my augmentation and my current sizing, she took one look at my Instagram and said she can tell from my photos that I have a small rib cage meaning my back size would be a 30 and by looking at the shape of my breasts I was a FF. I trusted her instinct and she sent me these two gorgeous pieces…

Lets start with the Curvey Kate Cabaret Black Plunge Bra

Chantelle was spot on with my size, the bra fit perfectly. I’d been wanting to try a non padded bra for a while as since my boobs are rather big, the extra padding makes them look even bigger! The cups are made from a supportive mesh which held my breasts steadily. The mesh feels super soft on the skin and the extra embroidery doesn’t irritate the skin or feel itchy which I thought it would, thank god. The bows add an a certain cuteness to the bra but it still remains sexy complimenting the bra and the detailing. The mesh continues around the back to where you fasten the bra, I must stress that the mesh isn’t flimsy and really is supportive. It has three bra hooks to fasten and has fully adjustable straps which are strong and firmly stop in place. Comfort wise this bra is perfect, the straps don’t feel heavy with the weight of my breasts like other bras do, they just rest on my shoulders rather then dig in. Comfort around my back was just right, not too tight not too roomy and cup wise it was the right coverage. The knickers fit snuggly too making the set almost an outfit, together they look great.

The price of this bra is £16.95 now since it’s in the sale and the knickers are £6.95.

Secondly, The Scantilly Invitation Blueberry/Black Half Cup Bra

Scantilly Lingerie is “lingerie that indulges, sanctifies and worships; lingerie that needs no apology. It’s not a want but a need – enrich your drawer with the unforgettable, seduce your skin with the sensual and arrest yourself with Scantilly in DD to HH cups.”

What first attracted me to this bra is the half cup, I knew my boobs would look dazzling in this shape and had never actually tried this style before on my new boobs, I mean I had tried a balcony bra which was very flattering but this was some what different.

I’ll be honest I took one look at the bra and thought ‘this is going to be far too small’ but when I tried it on I was wrong. It’s meant to be like this hence the half cup, my boobs looked great. Even though it’s half cup it has been designed to still support which it does since it’s slightly padded. The materials are a cross between Polyester, Cotton, Nylon, and Elastane. The detailing on this bra is like a piece of art, the blueberry under cup compliments the black flower detail really highlighting the stitch work. The gold charm in between the cups is an extra touch which really exaggerates the sexiness of this bra, we associate dark luxurious and sheen colours with sexiness. Again similar to the other bra it has three bra hooks to fasten and has fully adjustable straps which are strong and firmly stop in place. Comfort wise I would say this bra isn’t designed for the standard under the T-shirt kind of bra, I could wear this bra under revealing/v neck dresses to show off my assets. Since it’s a half cup though don’t be put off, it still is very steady and reassuring to the breasts keeping them in place. Also I really thought the half cup meant the shoulders would suffer, again I was wrong… very comfortable!! The matching knickers and suspenders are gorgeous, matching the design and very seductive.

This bra comes in at £42.00, the knickers are £20.00 and the suspenders are only £25.00.

Overall, from now on I’ll be buying all of my bras from Curvy Kate. They are bras that I’ve needed in my life since my breast englargement and I wish I’d came across this brand sooner. I can’t thank Chantelle at Curvy Kate enough, you have solved all my bra fitting issues!!
