Last Wednesday, myself and some of my favourite North East bloggers (obviously, Laura), headed to John Lewis within intu Eldon Square for the Mother of all beauty events! You guys must have got the memo about how much I love makeup and skincare on here, right? Check out my Beauty section NOW if not. This was the first John Lewis Beauty event of its kind in the North East, so I had big expectations and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
I’ll hold my hands up and confess that I’d never visited The Beauty Retreat within John Lewis before the event and I can’t believe I’ve been missing out for so long. I didn’t even know it existed, it’s like a mini spa in there plus it’s conveniently located on the ground floor of the shop. Very tranquil and relaxing, even though that was hard to imagine since we were at blogger event with a fair few people. It’s the perfect hideaway from the busy crowds of Newcastle City Centre after a day of shopping! The Retreat offers a range of luxury spa treatments from nails, brows and lashes, as well as pedicures, waxing, tanning, make-up, facials and massages all by well-known brands like Clarins, which is a personal favourite of mine! The Beauty Hall has every beauty counter you can think of! Dior, Chanel, Nars, Benefit, heaven really is a place on earth.
The night started in the Retreat reception with fizz and canapes, which was really lovely. The store manager of beauty, Clare Meadows gave us a quick speech introducing her self as well as what the shop and Retreat have to offer. She then instructed us to split into two groups, one to stay in the Retreat and one to explore the hall. We were having a neb around the hall first, I took my Mam along with me as I knew this was right up her street. The staff at John Lewis are SO friendly and most importantly helpful, I had a few queries at Benefit and Bobby Brown about their products and those representatives could not have been more informative. I bagged a mini eye makeover at Nars which I was over the moon with. I was shown to create a smoky eye effect with their signature eye crayons in five minutes which I was really impressed by! I then found the LA MER counter which is a brand I’ve been dying to try for such a long time. We were greeted by Jacqui the stores LA MER brand ambassador who told me all about the brand, their ethos and what their products are all about. She even gave me an arm and hand massage, plus a five-day sample of their original face moisturiser which I’m seriously loving right now. She was amazing, I could have sat and spoken to her all night about the products. She’s officially convinced me that I need all of the LA MER products in my life. Good staff are vital within beauty hall’s and she’s an example to the Newcastle store and LA MER.
After dragging myself away from Jacqui, it was time to discover The Beauty Retreat properly. Inside, it has five main brands who have their own room which are Blink Eyebrow Bar, Clarins, Declor, Elemis and Jessica. We started at Blink Eyebrow Bar where my Mam was given a 10 minute tutorial on how to do her brows. It was really useful for my Mam as she struggles to thicken her brows, they looked amazing after she had them done. Next, we headed upstairs to the Clarins Skin Spa where I was given a little shoulder and back massage. It was so relaxing, I haven’t had a massage in absolutely ages and my back is so tender with doing a lot of exercise, total bliss. The rooms have that spa smell about them, it’s a mix between lavender and oils, refreshing! We then went to the Elemis Room where I was totally spoilt and had a head massage. Get me to that Beauty Retreat every night after work, please?!
After all that pampering it was time to head home, it was a very busy yet relaxing event! I had a fantastic time and it’s good to learn new things about your favourite brands and especially about John Lewis! I can’t wait to pop back in over the lead up to Christmas, I’ve got a feeling I’ll maybe need a massage after I do my big shop!
