St.Tropez Purity Bronzing Waters Review

Something exciting happened last week! I was chosen to collaborate with St.Tropez to try our their new Purity Bronzing Waters range! St.Tropez is a brand I’ve loved ever since I first discovered false tan back in my early teens. It’s the more ‘luxurious’ option when it comes to self-tanning products and quite rightly so as it’s always maintained amazing quality and continued to be the most established brand in the business. Someone says false tan, and you automatically think of St.Tropez.

At the beginning of the year, I had a skin cancer scare, and it was a very traumatic time for me. Learning that skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK I felt the need to blog about my journey, from the beginning to the end when I, fortunately, received the all clear, in hope to spread more awareness about Melanoma. Incidence rates for melanoma skin cancer are projected to rise by 7% in the UK between 2014 and 2035, to 32 cases per 100,000 people by 2035 according to Cancer Research UK. The response from sharing my experience was insane and if I’ve prevented one person from using sunbeds or even being more mindful of sun abuse than it was all worth it. Why bake when you can fake?!

I’ve since become the queen of false tan if I do say so myself! When false tan is applied properly, with the right maintenance in between, and is of a good quality it looks natural and leaves skin looking glowing. I feel like a fake tan professional now.

So, you could say I was pretty excited about trying the Purity Bronzing Waters range. I’d never tried a water-based false tan before this range and I was intrigued by it, especially since it’s bang on trend this summer according to the latest beauty news columns!

I received the self-tan purity bronzing water mousse and the self-tan purity bronzing water face mist. First impressions were good, I loved the packaging it really presents to me that tropical, summer feel. I was most looking forward to using the facial mist. I’m not sure whether anyone else has this problem, but when I apply false tan to my face it NEVER applies flawlessly. It always sinks into my pores and blemishes, it just looks so patchy and to avoid it happening I have to usually apply a moisturiser to it which isn’t ideal so I was praying this facial mist would be the answer to my prayers.

Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Mousse 200ml (£33.00)

Let’s start with the mousse! St.Tropez have created this invisible, water-based, vegan-friendly formula with a brand new uplifting tropical scent. Results wise, they claim this bronzing water will help you achieve a medium/golden tan that lasts for days with just one application so I put it to the test. The biscuit smell to false tanning products is almost as standard with every brand isn’t it? You just get used to it, even my boyfriend has become accustomed to it. I thought I’d get him involved in the tried and tested process to get his thoughts on the smell too.

I exfoliated the night before use, ensuring I’d moisturised all of my body for the application. The formula is very lightweight on the skin, it quickly turns into foam on the application and you can instantly smell the floral fruity scent. It’s definitely different to other tanning products! My boyfriend can vouch for the smell of the product too, he described it as ‘that holiday smell, like suntan lotion but better’. Upon application, it also feels very refreshing and rejuvenating on the skin meaning there’s no need to rinse off. Whilst I was reading up on the product St.Tropez state it’s a transparent and wearable tan that can be applied day or night, that doesn’t transfer onto clothing or bed sheets, therefore I applied it on a morning before I was due to go out. I used the St Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt in sweeping motions on my body and began to get my tan on!

I was worried about a few things while I was using the product, one being the fact that the formula is transparent and that I was tanning essentially tanning myself blind but the product gives off a light gleam to help guide you and two, residue on my clothes but I needn’t have given it a second thought as there were no nasty marks on my clothes.

My golden tan developed after JUST 4 hours into a natural looking, streak-free tan and I didn’t smell, I was so impressed. The day after the tan looked darker but not unnaturally darker, I was bronzed. I didn’t reapply the next day, just to see how long it would last after one application and with some maintenance, i.e moisturising thoroughly every day. I’m now on day 5 of looking like I’ve been in the sun for a few days WITHOUT the skin damage.

I’d go as far as to say this purity bronzing water is the best self-tan I’ve EVER used, genuinely too. I think it’s the moisturizing properties that make me love it so much, it doesn’t sink into skin cells nor does it go scaley. For £33.00, the quality is fantastic.

Rating: 10/10

Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist 80ml (£22.00)

Now let’s discuss the much anticipated facial mist! Similar to the mousse, it’s an invisible, water-based, vegan-friendly formula with the same new tropical scent and the claim just one application can last for days!

The mist smells exactly like the mousse, however, it’s in a constant liquid state. Like I said before, applying false tan to my face can be a nightmare due to skin blemishes however this product is totally different. You can apply the mist under or over make-up but I decided to do it under first and see how it would develop with the product on top. It’s really effortless to apply, you spray a few squirts over your face and neck then let it dry and boom you’re done. It’s really lightweight, moisturising and quick drying, it doesn’t leave the skin feeling claggy or sticky either. I then applied my make-up and let the magic happen.

Within a few hours, my face and skin tone had a lovely golden glow, it even made my foundation look better creating an overall flawless look. I’ve only used the mist once, again to see how long the results would last and they just keep on getting better. I love this mist! I’d 100% recommend this product to anyone looking for a natural looking tan.

Rating 10/10

Overall, I have fallen in tan love with the Purity Bronzing Waters range! The smell is lovely, the tan is long lasting and easy to apply, what more could you want?!

These sound amazing! I use Bondi Sands because I honestly can’t stand the biscuit smell, it makes me smell like I’ve been on holiday when I’ve applied it. Its nice to see brands are finding ways to cover up the scent! I’d love to try it. Skin cancer is a lot more common than people realise and I find it frustrating when I see people use sun beds, but it’s their choice isn’t it? Glad you’re okay now after your scare! x

Ok. This sounds like my kind of product. I love being tanned but hate applying fake tan. Especially when you have to wait for it then to wash it off etc! But this seems so efortless and easy! And I love the face one! My body tans quiet well just in the sun alone, so I usually always have a brown tint, but because of wearing makeup my face is protected and is always so pale! I could do with that face one!
    Much love, Caitylis x x

Oh this sounds amazing! I am all for a natural looking tan. I hate seeing people using fake tan and forgetting about their hands. However, we all been there with orange hands. Last time I used a gradual build tanner, I forgot in between my fingers. Ha! So this look like a great solution.
