Happy Hump Day! How’s everyone finding January so far? It’s been a fairly weird month for me so far, to be honest, it’s been turbulent, to say the least. However, the fact I’ve booked my dream holiday with the other half to New York and Las Vegas has kinda’ made it an amazing month. Anyway, back to today’s post… the Mac Beauty Haul of all beauty hauls!
Mrs Clause, i.e the best Mam ever, left a few MAC goodies in my stocking this year (or should I say last year!) and I just NEEDED to share them with you! I’ve always loved MAC, ever since I first discovered makeup in my teens it’s been my go-to brand for cosmetics. Their products have never let me down and they’re actually quite affordable!
I got a total MAC makeover in December when I visited Liverpool at their counter within Harvey Nichols. When you book in for a MAC makeover, you pay £40 and essentially you get that £40 back in products which is incredible for a MAC lover like me!!!
I physically have to stop myself from spending a fortune every time I’m near a MAC counter! You can always find me browsing their counters to see what’s new and I literally fell in love with their whole Christmas range the minute I laid eyes on it.
When I opened all my MAC goodies on Christmas day I couldn’t believe my Mam had bought my favourites on the sly without me even realising, I was so surprised and obviously over the moon.
I received three pieces from their 2017 Snowball gift set range and the classic Viva Glam III. I’ve given each product a good go so here’s my opinion on last years crimbo range.
1. Snow Ball Pigment And Glitter Kit (£20.00)
Usually, I’m not a fan of pigment shades for my eyes. I’m really old-fashioned and much prefer a proper shadow however when I was given my total MAC makeover I was amazed at the effect it created on my lid. The lovely makeup artist who gave me my makeover used these pigments and the glitter to create a dazzling evening look. There and then she showed me how to use it properly and that’s when I knew I had to have it. I think I’m usually put off because I think pigments apply differently to shadow put it’s really effortless. These pigments add warmth and sparkle to your eye makeup since the gold kit which I received is based on a champagne colour.
The glitter, when applied with the right adhesive stays on all night and blends perfectly with your shadow. I’d really recommend anyone trying the pigments as I actually think the colours project deeper and brighter on the eyes compared to standard shadow. I also loved the little mini sequined bag to keep the products in, very handy.
2. Snow Ball Mascara Kit (£24.00)
I’ve been desperate for a new mascara for months but haven’t had the chance to read up on a decent one, until I laid eyes on this set of course. This is basically an eye kit featuring mini sizes of the False Lashes Maximizer, False Lashes and Brow Set. The False Lashes Maximizer is to be applied on lashes before using mascara to improve the performance of any MAC mascara. The False Lashes mascara is to be applied by pressing the brush into lashes close to roots and ‘shimmy’ brush through from root to tip. And the Brow Set is to be applied to brows by combing through hairs with the brush applicator before using brow products. My favourite from the duo has to be the maximizer, it works really well with the mascara and made a huge impact on the length and thickness of my lashes, it almost created a look like I had eyelash extensions on! If you’re after a new mascara, this combo is for you!
3. MAC Snow Ball Mini Lipstick Kit – MAC Classics (£85.00)
Do I even have to say why this kit is so amazing?! Just look at it. Every girls dream for god sake, every shade of lipstick you can imagine, for every occasion, all in a line, organised, in beautiful packaging… how aesthetically pleasing?! This kit is made up of twelve minis, perfect for handbag size and for a night out! The shades in the kit include:
– Diva – Intense reddish-burgundy
– Ruby Woo – Very matte vivid blue/red
– Mangrove – Hot, bright red
– Little Darling – Clean light nude matte
– Velvet Teddy – Deep-tone beige
– Whirl – Dirty Rose
– Stone – Muted greyish taupe brown
– Rebel – Midtonal cream plum
– Flat Out Fabulous – Bright plum matte
– Good Kisser – Midtone fuchsia
– Please Me – Muted-rosy-tinted pink
– Party Commencing – Clean matte Light neutral pink
I’m a sucker for a fuchsia so my favourite is definitely good kisser. I’d go as far as to say this kit was my favourite Christmas present!
4. Viva Glam III Lipstick (£16.50)
This was the shade I choose to match my makeup after my makeover and it’s possibly the most beautiful, autumnal shade of lipstick I’ve ever come across. It’s Matte, which I’m usually mega turned off by but this is a very moisturising and thick texture meaning it didn’t dry my lips out! The Viva Glam range was introduced as an outspoken deep red that was universal in its appeal and its glamour. I can definitely agree, Viva Glam is sexy! This is the newest member of the VIVA GLAM family and is a warm terracotta-plum with pearl finish. This is the perfect lippy for a night out ladies!
I mean now I’m set up for the whole year on the make up front. I have enough MAC makeup to last me a lifetime Overall, personally, I thought all of the products were reasonably priced. Some, for example, the lipstick kit was a little bit of a splurge but I suppose what do you expect for a staggering twelve lipsticks! I was so impressed by MACs Christmas range and I’m extremely excited to see what the brand have coming to us cosmetic queens in 2018! What beauty goodies did you get for Christmas?
